Ukraine is counting on financing about 20 billion dollars as part of the future program.
The mission of the International Monetary Fund will start work on a new program with Ukraine in October.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in his Telegram following a bilateral meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva.
“The IMF mission will start work on a new special program with Ukraine already in October. This was agreed with the head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, today in New York. They outlined the next steps of bilateral cooperation,” the message reads.
It is noted that during the meeting, the head of the government also talked about measures to stabilize the internal economic situation in Ukraine, transfer the economy to “war rails” and timely submission of the state budget for 2023 to the parliament.
“I am grateful to the IMF and to you personally for the quick response to the challenges faced by Ukraine in connection with the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, and the provision of assistance in the amount of 1.4 billion dollars. We count on the continuation of our active and close cooperation, because the support of the IMF is the basis further financial development of our country,” Shmyhal noted.
At the same time, Georgieva assured that the International Monetary Fund remains an unwavering partner of Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported, earlier the head of the National Bank Kyrylo Shevchenko said that Ukraine expects to start a program with the International Monetary Fund in November and receive about 20 billion dollars under it. According to the head of the NBU, a program plan is currently being developed that would allow financing both the budget deficit and the balance of payments deficit of Ukraine.
