In Naryan-Mar will present “Siege Cello”

This is a unique exhibition and concert project of the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theater and Musical Art

The Blockade cello will be presented in Naryan-Mar. The exhibition will open on May 6 at 17:00 at the Arktika Palace of Culture in Naryan-Mar.

The basis for the exposition was a cello that ended up in the restoration workshops of the Sheremetyev Palace with an inscription on the inner surface of the lower soundboard: “The instrument was started in 1941 – completed in 1956 – the blockade of Leningrad prevented it.”

The exposition also includes graphic works by Vladimir Boriskovich. This Soviet theater artist and graphic artist created a series of black-and-white autolithographs “Leningrad. 1942″. In addition, visitors to the exhibition will get acquainted with the graphics of Vyacheslav Ivanov and Elena Martilla, an artist whose youth passed during the blockade. She captured the horrors of the first blockade winter of 1941-1942 in her sketches.

In addition, the exhibition presents the personal belongings of Karl Eliasberg, conductor of the Leningrad Radio Committee Symphony Orchestra, as well as a music stand – a memory of the performance of Dmitry Shostakovich’s Seventh Symphony.

The exhibition will run until July 12, 2022, according to the Arktika Palace of Culture.
