The contagion index in Lombardy dropped to 0.89, returning below the alarm rate of 1: this is what emerged from the weekly monitoring of the Ministry of Health and the Istituto Superiore di Sanità on thecontagion index in the Italian regions. Last week the Lombardy region had instead highlighted an index Rt equal to 1.01.

As explained by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità “if Rt has a value below the critical threshold of 1, the number of new infections will tend to decrease the faster the further away from the unit. On the other hand, the more Rt exceeds 1, the more the number of infections will increase more rapidly. An Rt value above the threshold, even in the presence of a low number of cases, is an alarm bell on the epidemic trend “. The regions that have exceeded the 1 threshold are Emilia Romagna (1.28 from 1.01, on which the outbreak in Bologna), Veneto (1.12 against 0.81 last week), as announced by the governor Zaia, and Lazio, which improves (from 1.24 to 1.04) but remains above the threshold. At the limit Tuscany (0.99) while Piedmont also rises (0.81). In the South, instead, Campania worries, rising from 0.21 to 0.82 due to the outbreaks recorded in the last few days.
