The Procurement Supervision Bureau (IUB) rejected the submitted complaint in an open competition for medical insurance of teachers and social workers in Daugavpils and allowed to conclude an agreement, the city government reported.

Thus, in the very near future, contracts will be concluded with the insurance company AAS “BALTA”, and all teachers and social workers of our city will be able to receive medical insurance paid by the municipality.

In the fall of last year, the Daugavpils City Council made a decision to insure the health of teachers not only of general education, but also of preschool institutions of the city, as well as of teachers of interest. According to the Education Department, there are more than 1600 teachers in Daugavpils. The cost of one medical insurance policy is about 100 euros, the municipality plans to purchase about 2,000 insurance policies during the purchase.

Nevertheless, at the beginning of this year, Daugavpils teachers did not receive the promised health insurance policies. The losing insurance company filed a complaint with the Procurement Oversight Bureau (IUB). As a result, the conclusion of the contract and the issuance of policies to teachers and social workers was postponed until the Bureau considers the claim and makes a decision. This is what happened now.
