BOGOTA – The President of Colombia, Ivan Duke, signed a law which gradually shortens the working week from 48 to 42 hours, without reducing the rights of workers.
After the signing of the law, Duke said that Colombia thus joins the best practice of safety at work, RIA Novosti reports.
The law stipulates the obligation of the employer to gradually shorten the working week in the next five years. Two years after the law comes into force, the working week will be shortened by one hour a week, and after three years by another hour.
