In Britain, 35 per cent of the population has already received the third vaccine

The number of third doses of coronavirus vaccines in Britain has exceeded twenty million. According to the latest data set released by the UK Department of Health on Sunday night, 20,258,417 people have received a third dose of the booster and booster vaccine so far; this is 35.2 per cent of the adult British population.

It also means that in less than a month, tens of millions of the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine was given in Britain, with the number of those who received the third dose of the vaccine crossing 10 million on 7 November.

The UK health authorities are currently focusing specifically on getting as many people as possible to receive the third vaccine, especially since the identification of the omicron variant of the coronavirus. This is also reflected in the daily figures: 25,679 first, 35,719 second, and 448,975 third vaccinations have been given across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the UK Department for Health on Sunday night.

The first dose was given to 51.1 million people; this is 88.8 per cent of Britons over the age of 12. Of these, 46.5 million received the second dose. This means that 80.9 per cent of people over the age of 12 have been vaccinated with two doses in the UK so far. The total number of vaccinations given for the first, second and third doses, according to information on Sunday evening, is 117.9 million, the MTI reports.

According to a recent motion by the Independent Advisory Committee (JCVI) to develop vaccination recommendations for the UK government, everyone in the UK population over the age of 18 should be offered a third dose of the vaccine. Due to the emergence of a new omicron variant of coronavirus with significant mutations compared to previous versions, the JCVI has also initiated a government shortening the period between the second and third vaccination doses from the six months prescribed so far to three months. This means that in England alone, 14 million adults have become eligible for the third vaccination.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the other day: the government has set a target of offering all those eligible for a third vaccination by the end of January. To achieve this, 1,500 new community vaccination centers will be set up in England, mostly in pharmacies, and everyone will be called to the vaccination point closest to where they live.
