Ildar Abdrazakov held a program for young singers – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

An educational program of the Ildar Abdrazakov Opera Festival, which supports talented youth, was held in Moscow. This is a series of master classes by famous opera singers and the final gala concert in the Great Hall of the Conservatory, where the best participants performed on stage with opera stars.

This year, more than four hundred young singers from Russia, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and other countries submitted applications for participation in master classes. About a hundred participants were selected for the program. Among them are university students and young singers already performing on stage. A weeklong cycle of master classes conducted by Ildar Abdrazakov, Veronika Dzhioeva, Dmitry Korchak, Ekaterina Semenchuk and Vasily Ladyuk was held at the Myaskovsky Hall at the Moscow Conservatory. Young singers sang a diverse repertoire, worked on technical difficulties, refined their phrasing and style, and created emotional images. And each of the masters had their own approach to this work.

– I have never been a fan of such an event as a master class. For a long time I did not understand what can be given to a person in just twenty or thirty minutes, ”said Dmitry Korchak, addressing the singers. – But lately I have perceived master classes not as a singer, but as a person who conducts performances. Therefore, it is important for me, first of all, your understanding of style, phrasing. I want to see artists in you.

Ekaterina Semenchuk also spoke about how important artistry is for an opera singer: “When we go on stage, from the very first minute we live the life of characters. You need to love to feel the text of the part, enjoy it – every word, every vowel.”

And Veronica Dzhioeva paid more attention to the vocal technique, the correct formulation of the voice. “Often teachers abroad teach pronunciation and style,” the singer said, “but little attention is paid to the sound of the voice. Work on the musical side is necessary, but only when there is the necessary foundation.”

78 young singers were listened to in seven days of master classes

For seven days of master classes, 78 young singers were listened to, and fourteen best participants performed in the final gala concert “Ildar Abdrazakov and Friends”. The most complex arias from operas by Mozart, Massenet, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Verdi, Puccini, Bizet were performed, which were worked on in the class. The concert was completed by the star mentors of the young singers who performed arias from the operas “Iolanta”, “Manon Lescaut”, “Werther” and “Ernani”. For an encore, they all sang the Neapolitan song Funicul funicul (Funicular), full of humor and radiant fun.
