IL promotes 1st National Youth Meeting in Nazaré


The Liberal Initiative (IL) will hold the 1st edition of X’IL – National Youth Meeting next weekend, in Nazaré. The Liberals’ initiative, which runs from September 30 to October 2, will discuss topics such as social mobility, sustainability, Europe and democracy.

Among the speakers are Álvaro Beleza, a socialist doctor and president of SEDES (Association for Economic and Social Development); Cecília Meireles, former vice-president of the CDS-PP; Margarida Balseiro Lopes, former president of the JSD and current vice-president of the PSD and Rita Saias, former-President of the National Youth Council and consultant for the President of the Republic’s Youth.

It will be the leader of IL, João Cotrim de Figueiredo, to welcome the participants at the beginning of the Friday night, followed by the intervention of Emil Kirjas, former secretary general of Liberal International and nominal vice president, on the topic “Liberalism in Europe”.

During the three days of the event, the various panels will also include the participation of IL deputies, IL municipal deputy Angelique da Teresa, as well as the chief of staff of the IL Parliamentary Group, Leonor Dargent.

In between, participants will also be challenged to the “Liberal Pulpit”, having the opportunity to simulate an intervention in the Assembly of the Republic (AR). An initiative aimed at young people, who were defined in 2019 as the party’s target audience.
