THE Asus presented it Zenbook 17 Fold OLED at CES earlier this year, but has now made it official at IFA 2022 in Berlin.
The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is a hybrid device based on a 17.3-inch 2560×1920px foldable OLED display with a 4:3 aspect ratio (when fully open) and 500 nits of brightness. When fully unfolded it can stand on its base and act as a display, along with a Bluetooth keyboard.
The device can be folded to 120 degrees and used with the Bluetooth keyboard or by making the bottom part a virtual keyboard.
Still, it can be used as a conventional laptop with a magnetically attached physical keyboard and only half of its screen at 12.5″ and 1920×1280 px.
It goes without saying that it can also be used as a tablet, although the 17.3″ makes it a bit large to hold in the hand.
The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED runs Windows 11 and is powered by Intel’s i7-1250U processor with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Graphics are handled by Intel’s Iris Xe. There’s a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD – the latest and fastest storage. It has two USB-C ports – both Thunderbolt 4 with support for both display output and charging, which goes up to 65W. There’s also a 3.5mm audio jack.
Inside, there’s a 4-cell 75 Whr battery that lasts up to 9 and a half hours of screen time. It weighs 1.5 kg – too much for a tablet but just right for a 17.3″ device.
The Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED will be available in Q4 for €3,999/$3,499 in Tech Black.
