I Liga: FC Porto seeks to restore ‘safety margin’ for Benfica

Today, FC Porto seeks to restore the advantage in the leadership of the Portuguese football league in six points over the stalker Benfica, when they received Belenenses SAD, in a game of the 30th round of the competition.

The team coached by Sérgio Conceição will have to beat the ‘blues’ to restore the ‘safety margin’ at the top of the standings over the national champion, who on Saturday prevailed 3-1 in the reception to Boavista and reduced the delay to three points compared to the Porto rival.

FC Porto is facing an opponent in a fragile situation, with only one victory in the last seven meetings in the competition – over the already relegated Desportivo das Aves -, needing points to improve the current 14th place and distance themselves from the ‘red zone’.

Also today, Rio Ave and Famalicão, ranked fifth and seventh, are trying to stay in the fight for ‘European places’ and respond to the 1-0 triumph achieved on Saturday in Portimão by Vitória de Guimarães (provisional sixth), in the trips to stadiums of Gil Vicente (13th) and Tondela (15th), respectively.

The 30th round, the sixth since the resumption of the championship, after the suspension due to the pandemic of covid-19, is completed on Monday, with the visit of Sporting, third placed, to the stadium of the ‘tranquil’ Moreirense, eighth.
