I gave up fear. Looking back, fear paralyzed me and made me give up a lot of things that were important to me

2021 was a year that forced us to broaden our boundaries and adapt to uncertain and ever-changing conditions. After a year of everything, we still hope that what follows will finally be the glimmer of hope we so desperately need. That’s what he wants Aurelia Teslaru, travel blogger, from 2022, be gentler with us all. But most of all, he hopes that he will be able to travel again as he once did, without restrictions that change from day to day. 2021 was the year Aura Călătorește appeared, after 4 years of travel blogging in English. He quickly amassed a community of longing and interest in discovering new places, and that was the fuel that kept his passion alive even on the days with little motivation.

I really want it to be easier to travel and open as many borders as possible. For over a year I postponed a second long-term trip (the first was in Asia and lasted almost 2 years). I hope that 2022 will be the year in which we take it again, with a backpack in the back, to new destinations.

The happiest time of the year was when he traveled to Antalya, Tenerife, Zakynthos and Jordan. She documented her experience in a dynamic way that helped her garner 2 million views on Instagram or TikTok. Aurelia told us about how 2021 was and what will follow in 2022 in the following lines.

Thoughts of January 1, 2021

On January 1, he caught me at home, in Brasov. It had just been a year since I stole my passion – travel. I admit, the year 2020 was a very difficult one, a year in which fear dominated my thoughts and actions. For 2021, I wanted more security and more travel, and fortunately that was the case.

Resolutions, if any

After about 4 years of blogging in English, at the beginning of 2021 I realized that it would be a shame not to talk about the incredible places I have visited over the years and the Romanian public. Thus, a new account was born Instagram and a new one blog.

I wanted to gather with me a community of people passionate about travel, but I never imagined that by the end of the year I would reach from 0 to 60,000 followers on Instagram alone. I worked hard but the reward was worth it.

At the beginning of 2021, I wanted to travel more. After a year of not traveling at all, trips to Antalya, Tenerife, Zakynthos and Jordan fell by the wayside.

Hopes for 2021

From 2021 I wanted it to be a better year than 2020, on all levels. As 2020 was a horrible year, it was not difficult to be dethroned. I was hoping for a vaccine, which is what happened. Nothing revolted me in 2021.

With the engines running or idling

All year long I had the engines running at full speed, especially professionally. I wanted to create quality content for my channels and bring to the fore lesser known locations in Romania. I spent every free weekend traveling the country, filming and taking pictures. I think we have an incredible country that deserves to be promoted!

I was glad to see that my work was appreciated. Thousands of people wrote to thank me for their holiday ideas. I had videos on Tik Tok and Instagram Reels that reached 2 million views, which seems wow to me, especially since my audience is only from Romania.

Outstanding projects in 2021

Definitely the Aura Travel project. I’m very lucky that my friend Dan is with me. He is the man behind the camera and the programmer behind the blogs. Dan helped me a lot and he knew how to encourage me when I felt that what I was doing was not enough. Even though he works full-time, he has taken on another job, that of creating content with me, and for that I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

Trends that annoyed you

I always try to keep up to date with the latest trends in my field. Nobody annoys me. I can only agree or disagree with them.

New habits and routines

I think this is the section where I should say that I started doing sports and started eating healthy. It wasn’t to be this year either.

What you gave up in 2021

I gave up fear. Looking back, in 2020 fear paralyzed me and made me give up a lot of important things for me. With a lot of effort, I managed to get rid of most of the fears in 2021, which opened many doors for me, both personally and professionally.

The worst day of the year

I can’t think of any. There were beautiful days and less beautiful days, days full of adrenaline and days when I stayed in bed and watched the series.

The happiest time for you

I was the happiest during the holidays this year. I arrived in Turkey for the first time, visited Tenerife, visited our Bulgarian neighbors, spent a week in Zakynthos, and at the end of the year spent a week in Jordan, a country I had long wanted to visit. I visit.

The best news you’ve ever read

I don’t watch much TV and I don’t watch the news. However, I was overjoyed to learn that we have access to covid vaccines.

The most talked about book around you

Given the current situation, many relatives have started working from home. The term digital nomad has become increasingly popular and people want to be able to work in any corner of the world in the future. That’s why the most successful book in my circle of friends was “The 4-Hour Workweek,” a book about how to live longer and work less. I think work makes many of us forget to live.

2021 on social media

I think it was a year of change, a year when static content was replaced with video content. Tik Tok has taken the lead, and the Reels are doing very well on Instagram. I think the pandemic also contributed to this change.

What annoyed you the most in the public space

I was not annoyed, but I was bothered by public figures who imposed some views on areas they had nothing to do with. I support freedom of expression, but sometimes I have to analyze the long-term effects that statements made in public can have.

The most important lessons you take with you in 2022

I enter 2022 more confident in my own strength. I learned that you can make any dream come true if you work hard enough for it and have the right person with you. Sky is the limit!

Thoughts, dreams, ideas, wishes for 2022

I really want it to be easier to travel and open as many borders as possible. For over a year I postponed a second long-term trip (the first was in Asia and lasted almost 2 years). I hope that 2022 will be the year in which we take it again, with a backpack in the back, to new destinations.

I don’t know if 2022 will be a better or worse year, but I can hope. I hope the new year will be kinder to all of us.

The word of the year for you in 2021

Perseverance.
