Huawei uses HarmonyOS for smart printer PixLab X1

Huawei is launching a smart black-and-white laser printer powered by the HarmonyOS operating system in its home country of China, reports HuaweiCentral. The PixLab X1 has a futuristic-looking top that seems to float above it all. Huawei will release the printer in China for the equivalent of 250 euros. For the time being, it does not appear that the PixLab X1 will also be released in Europe.

The smart printer is equipped with some modern gadgets such as quick connection and control with smartphones, printing via an nfc connection, a touchscreen panel and a smart scanner (in the floating top part) that automatically recognizes and orients documents. Users therefore do not have to place the document to be scanned exactly in the corner of the scanner. The PixLab X1 has room for two toners that are easy to replace via a drawer, according to Huawei. The brand sells new toners for about 40 euros.

The PixLab X1 is Huawei’s first printer to be powered by HarmonyOS. The operating system was introduced several years ago as a replacement for Android after Huawei was banned from using Google Services by the United States. Huawei already announced at the time that it plans to provide all kinds of smart tech with HarmonyOS, including the Arcfox electric car, the Huawei Watch 3 series of smartwatches and smart TVs from Honor (then a subsidiary of Huawei).
