Huawei P60 Pro: How to install Google apps and everything you need to know

Huawei’s flagships are among the top smartphones every year. The latest one is no exception Huawei P60 Pro, which brought several important innovations. It has a beautiful LTPO display, an interesting design in the special Rococo Pearl color and, according to DXOMARK, also the best camera on the market.

All these functionalities are packed into the system EMUI 13 and thanks to the trade Huawei AppGallery the user has his favorite applications available. This is because it is the third largest application store in the world, which is constantly growing and adding more and more applications.

Applications can be installed from several sources, inexperienced users may have a problem especially with those that are not in the official AppGallery. But we will stay here for a while.

Huawei AppGallery offers almost everything you need, with the exception of applications from Google. Here you will find your bank’s application, timetables, Slovak radio stations, weather applications from local developers or the application of your health insurance company. Everything quickly and safely.

What if your favorite app is missing from Huawei AppGallery?

If you were missing an application before, even this is not a problem these days. First of all, you need to realize that there is an alternative to almost all Google applications. You can have your Gmail account stored, for example, in the native E-mail application from Huawei, which is already pre-installed. On the synchronization of Google contacts we recommend Outlook, which also works well as an e-mail client or calendar.

However, we have applications such as Google Photos or Google Keep notes or the popular YouTube, which you will not find in the Huawei AppGallery store. But even for this there is a convenient solution, which is the new GBox application.

GBox: When you really need Google apps

GBox is a great app to find precisely applications that you cannot normally install on a Huawei phone without Google services. And best of all, all are fully functional. To install GBox, just go to AppGallery, search for the application and install it.

After the first launch, you will be greeted by an attractive simple background and application icons that you know very well. Just choose the ones you need and install them. It works very easily, you just click on the application icon and the installation will take place automatically.

Each of the applications can be used to its full potential. This means that in it you log into your Google account exactly as you would on any other smartphone with Google services. Here you will find Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Maps, Keep notes, Google Photos, YouTube and other, even “non-Google” applications that require Google services to function. And of course, they all work perfectly.

Another solution is GSpace application, which owners of huawei smartphones already know very well. However, we cannot even write it off Petal Search, which is integrated directly into the Huawei AppGallery store. If you’re looking for an app that’s not in the store, it will still search for it and offer to install it from external sources.

What about contactless payments?

Since the new Huawei P60 Pro also offers NFC functionality, you can use it to pay contactless in shops. It doesn’t work through Google Pay, but you need to download and install it the Curve application. You add your payment card to it and you’re done. After that, all you have to do is attach your smartphone to the terminal and pay.

You can easily download the Curve application directly from the AppGallery. In addition to contactless payment, Curve offers several useful options. You can customize the card design according to your taste, you can even order your own physical card. Of course, there is also a history of payments, so you can immediately see how much money you spent where.
