Huawei nova 10 Pro is probably the best almost-flagship in the brand’s offer. A few weeks after the IFA 2022 fair, the smartphone has its Polish premiere.
Initially, the nova series included typical mid-range smartphones, but recently Huawei has started to push up their equipment (and prices at the same time). Last year’s nova 9 model was even called a flagship during the premiere, although it was still lacking for high-end smartphones.
The nova 10 series moves even closer to the premium segment.
Huawei nova 10: prices and availability in Poland
Polish prices are as follows:
- Huawei nova 10 (8/128 GB) – PLN 2499;
- Huawei nova 10 Pro (8/256 GB) – PLN 2999.
Regular sales start on October 10. People who place an order earlier will be able to buy Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 headphones for PLN 1. Their market value is PLN 899.
Huawei nova 10: top screen and refreshed design
Like the “nine”, both smartphones have OLED screens with curved edges, which is strongly associated with flagships. Most manufacturers reserve such panels for their most expensive and best-equipped smartphones.
The panels used differ slightly in size and resolution. These are:
- Huawei nova 10 – 6,67 cala, OLED 120 Hz, 2400 x 1080 (395 ppi);
- Huawei nova 10 Pro – 6,78 cala, OLED 120 Hz, 2652 x 1200 (429 ppi).
The Pro version panel has better parameters than many smartphones for PLN 5,000.
The screen of the Huaweia nova 10 has a single hole in the center, and the nova 10 Pro version has a long one in the corner. All due to the differences of the selfie cameras used, more on that in a moment.
The manufacturer used a very characteristic design. What is especially noticeable is the islet with cameras, in which gold ornaments are placed. I already saw the new live phones during IFA 2022 and I suspect that they will mostly appeal to women.
The matte back is elegant and pleasant to the touch, but the shimmering plastic frame feels cheaper. It is a pity that the manufacturer did not perfect the design and did not bet on metal.
Huawei nova 10 Pro has a selfie camera with… zoom
I have already mentioned that both phones differ from each other with the holes in the front panels, which is related to the selfie cameras used. Huawei applied:
- 60 Mpix selfie camera with f / 2.4 ultra wide angle lens;
- 8 Mpix camera with 2x optical zoom and f / 2.2 aperture (only in nova 10 Pro).
The combination of two lenses with different focal lengths means that the Huawei nova 10 Pro can – in the selfie mode – generate a zoom in the range from 0.7x to 5x. You can also zoom in and out while shooting a video.
An additional camera with a narrower angle of view is supposed to take nicer selfies without distorting the face, which is the disadvantage of wide lenses. Huawei also boasts of the ability to generate close-ups, e.g. for jewelry.
Regarding the rear camera, the nova 10 and nova 10 Pro have:
- 50 Mpix main camera with a sensitive RYYB matrix and f / 1.8 aperture;
- 8 Mpix camera with f / 2.2 ultra wide angle lens and macro mode;
- 2 Mpix camera for depth detection.
Huawei declares that the new smartphones can cope with photography even in poor lighting conditions.
Huawei nova 10 Pro is distinguished by super-fast charging
The heart of both phones is the Snapdragon 778G 4G, a mid-range unit that already powered last year’s generation.
All equipment looks like this:
- 6.67 inch OLED screen (nova 10) or 6.78 inch (nova 10 Pro) with 120 Hz refresh rate;
- stereo speakers;
- Snapdragon 778G;
- 8 GB of RAM;
- 128 or 256 GB of data memory;
- 4G and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity;
- 4000 (nova 10) or 4500 mAh (nova 10 Pro) battery;
- 66 W (nova 10) or 100 W (nova 10 Pro) fast charging.
Huawei declares that – thanks to 100 W charging – the nova 10 Pro is fully charged in 20 minutes, and from 20 to 80 percent. in 10 minutes.
The European variants are controlled by Android with the EMUI 12 interface. It is devoid of Google services.
