After the Huawei P60 Pro launched in Germany, the manufacturer is now presenting a new device at the summer conference in China. The Huawei MatePad Air is the first model in a brand new tablet series. You can read all the information about features, price and availability in our overview.

Huawei MatePad Air: design and features

Encased in an aluminum housing, the MatePad Air is only 6.4 mm thin and weighs 508 grams. The tablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The two-year-old flagship processor promises a good performance with four ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores with clock frequencies of up to 2.84 GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz Performance. In terms of display technology, the manufacturer installs an 11.5-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,840 pixels and a frame rate between 30 Hz and 144 Hz.

In terms of camera equipment, Huawei uses a 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP front camera for the MatePad Air. The battery should hold 8,300 mAh and have a runtime of up to twelve hours. The battery is charged via USB-C with up to 40 watt fast charging. Four microphones flanked by quad speakers should enable clear audio chats and solid sound when watching videos or films.

Huawei optionally offers a stylus and a keyboard case, although thanks to Bluetooth and the integrated battery, these do not have to be connected directly to the tablet to be able to be used.

The MatePad Air starts in China with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB flash memory for 2,899 yuan (approx. 382 euros), for the top model with 12 GB RAM, 512 GB memory and integrated LTE modem 4,499 yuan (approx. 592 euros) is estimated. The tablet is available in the colors white, green, blue, purple and black. Details on price and availability in Germany are not yet known.
