Huawei is still not giving up and, despite its uncertain future, has introduced the Huawei Mate X2. This is the third folding smartphone from this Chinese company and, unlike the previous 2 models, its display folds inwards.
The new Mate X2 brings an 8-inch main OLED display with a resolution of 2480 × 2220 pixels, a touch screen scanning frequency of 180Hz and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The external display is 6.45-inch with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch layer scanning frequency of 240Hz. The phone is powered by HiSilicon’s Kirin 9000 chip based on a 5nm process along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage.
There are four cameras on the back of the phone – a 50MPx main camera, a 16MPx ultra-wide camera and a 12MPx telephoto lens (3x zoom) and an 8MPx periscope (10x zoom). The phone also comes with a 4,500mAh battery and a 55-watt fast charge. The Huawei Mate X2 runs on Android 10 with an EMUI extension, but as you’d expect, support for Google applications and services is lacking.
The Huawei Mate X2 folding smartphone will go on sale in China on February 25. It is still not known when and if the phone will enter the global market. The 256GB version costs 17,999 yuan (€ 2,290) in China and the 512GB version costs 18,999 yuan (€ 2,420).
