How to shop safely online? The advice of Paolo Ruffini and eBay

A campaign to promote the safety and reliability of online shopping: it’s called #ShoppingShopping and was launched by eBay with the support ofNational Consumer Union (UNC).

Consumer protection is an essential element for eBay, one of the main marketplaces in the world, which has always supported its users through tools that make the entire online purchasing process safe and pleasant on any device. The support of UNC, the first consumer association in Italy, is a further step which demonstrates the attention and commitment of the ecommerce site to better protect its users by ensuring adequate assistance, information and protection.

To spread awareness of the rights and guarantees that consumers enjoy when shopping online, as part of the campaign with eBay, UNC has created the “Safe Purchasing Vademecum”, Indicating 5 useful tips for shopping online safely, answering the most frequent doubts of digital consumers:

1) Choose the seller carefully: evaluate the reviews, read the contact information and the description of the product offered for sale. If they show anomalies, pay attention!
2) Purchase only on sites protected by security systems, recognizable by the symbol of a closed padlock in the address bar, which guarantee greater protection in data transmission.
3) Check the conditions of sale and delivery, remembering that, in purchases from professional sellers, if the consumer wishes to return the product, he can do so without any penalty and without specifying the reason within 14 working days.
4) If the product is defective, the legal guarantee of conformity is 2 years: always pay attention to the procedure to obtain repair or replacement.
5) Use only payment methods that allow the chargeback to be canceled: avoid wire transfers and top-ups directly on Postepay and be wary of sites that charge costs for the use of a credit or prepaid card.

In addition to the Vademecum, part of the #CompraSicuro campaign will also be a series of 3 videos funny and ironic. The actor and television presenter are the protagonists Paolo Ruffini, which traces the stages of online shopping from the personalized selection of the product to the purchase, up to the return and protection options that protect the buyer. The videos will be broadcast online on eBay’s proprietary social channels, the National Consumer Union and Paolo Ruffini.
