Tourist workers in Tuzla Canton have recognized the pandemic as a chance for the development of domestic tourism, which is why they have been working in recent months to create offers that will attract domestic guests in the winter.

That they have succeeded in this is shown by the growing number of those who visit the mountains, picnic areas and cultural, historical and sports complexes that the Tuzla region is rich in.

We entered this winter tourist season affected by the pandemic, but tourism workers throughout the canton, along with local institutions, made an effort to mitigate the negative consequences. We had this, among other things, in the area of Tuzla, Lukavac and Banovići, where by designing new tourist products, ie content, we tried to attract visitors, certainly in compliance with epidemiological measures.“, Says for Miralem Mešković, head of the tourist office of the Tourist Board of TK.

There is currently only one ski lift in the Tuzla Canton, on Karaula near Kladanj. It was formed in 1984, and the cantonal tourist board states that in the past visitors showed interest in this complex, which was not possible to ski due to the lack of snow cover, but certainly provided an opportunity to enjoy the fresh air.

Unlike the previous period when we lacked snow, in the last few days we get hope that we will have a significant number of ski days in that sense. We hope that in addition to guests from the city and cantons, guests from other parts of our country will also come“, Meskovic points out.

Hotel facilities located in the immediate vicinity of picnic areas and mountain areas in Tuzla Canton from the beginning of the winter season until today had guests from all parts of the country who wanted to spend their holidays primarily in nature and in the fresh air.

We can boast that we have managed to animate hitherto unused capacities such as mountain lodges, hunting lodges and the like, so that our Majevica and Konjuh are filled with guests who enjoy the mountains of Tuzla Canton.“, Adds Mešković.

The reason for the significantly higher attendance of the mountains of the Tuzla region, but also the surrounding picnic areas and cultural-historical and sports complexes, in the Tourist Board of TK see in the fact that European winter destinations closed this season for foreign tourists due to pandemics and hygienic-epidemiological measures strength.

We, immodestly speaking, recognized the pandemic as an opportunity for the development and improvement of domestic tourism. This year we cannot say that we have a variety of organized visits of foreign tourists, but in any case we can be satisfied because domestic guests are coming to us.“, Continues Mešković.

In addition to the mentioned sites, there are many other valuable tourist gems that deserve the same attention, and are located in rural areas that visitors already visit.

The Cantonal Tourist Board recommends to the guests, first of all, the unsurpassed mountain Konjuh, but also the area of Muška Voda, where there is a sports and recreation center, the adaptation of which is in the final phase.

The winter idyll is also offered by the Zlača complex near Banović, the Orion sports and recreation complex near Srebrenik, which is adorned by the old town, ie the fortress, but also the Majevica mountain with mountain lodges that have especially enriched their offer in the current winter tourist season.

Any of today’s tourist sites to visit in the Tuzla Canton, you will find an excellent gastronomic offer in many restaurants, and the advantage is in the prices of accommodation, food and drinks.

Guests who decide to spend a few days in Tuzla Canton will pay an average of between 20 and 100 convertible marks for sleep, depending on whether they are rooms in private facilities, sports and recreation complexes or hotels. Click
