House restyling before and after

Change your look with a home makeover before and after

L’Home restyling o relooking is a type of intervention that allows us to bring our home to new without having to face many jobs or large expenses.

Among my clients there are some who contact me because they are tired of their home and would like some space with greater character.

There are others who invest in the real estate sector, so they buy houses which they then resell or rent after they have been put in place.

The way to proceed is similar in the two cases, but it has a small difference in the fact that in the second the study of the most suitable intervention is supported by a marketing strategy.

In both cases, however, when you do not want to resort to long and expensive renovations, you can operate with the restyling precisely.

In this article I show you an example of a project Caterina Scamardella Architect in which an intervention of home relooking.

House restyling before and after

The project in question concerns an inhabited house that had already been recently renovated, with a merger of apartments and a different internal distribution.

In the house there is alarge living area, divided into several areas. The project focused precisely on this, with a restyling that, in the customer’s requests, had to give character to the environments.

Relooking step 1

We started with a chat in which all the dissatisfaction of the family compared to what we were going to modify:

  • have spaces of greater representation
  • characterize with more force the areas of the living area making them elegant
  • identify some furnishings (table and chairs for lunch) more suitable
  • locate gods lighting bodies additional

In this first step, the peculiarities of these spaces, which constitute a constraint but also a design opportunity:

  • some walls already colored and one wallpaper not to change
  • presence of important furnishings and accessories, some vintage, others design
  • space wide but fractionated
  • promiscuity of functions in an articulated space
  • excellent exposure and great brightness
  • heterogeneity of styles.

Step 2 of the house restyling before and after

The first analysis led me to first give the various areas one specific function.
Study of homogeneous areas - Arch. Caterina Scamardella
The house starts from a entrance quite large, in which there is already a glossy gray cabinet of medium height and one niche occupied only by a painting.

The entrance before the restyling
This is the first public space of reception, the one that gives the first impression of the House.

The public living area before the restyling
We then enter a first area which, in the definition of homogeneous zones, has become for me the reception living area and representation, also a public space.

The second living room before the intervention
We then move on to seconda area livingwhich this time I defined private, a space for relaxation and for that matter stay together of the family.

Finally, there is a last homogeneous zone, which also acts as a passage to the other areas of the house. This was partly intended to constitute a personal space for the relax and the reading. In this area there is a wall with a flush door covered with wallpaper WOW from Wall & decò.

The search for inspirations: step 3

As always, for the definition of the common thread that guides the project, together with the client I have collected a series of inspirational images.

In reality, the analysis made shows that in this case the road was already partly traced and clear, as there are already challenging elements in the environments.

To give homogeneity to the spaces and all the factors already available, one was chosen contemporary classic style, characterized by the fusion of classic and modern elements, vintage and more contemporary design. In addition, this style allows you to create environments Very elegant.

Restyling of the house paints

An already present and strongly characterizing element is the aforementioned wallpaper. It was the starting point for the definition of color palette.

Colore NCS S 4040 B60G
It was decided to emphasize the division between the two living areas, painting the central wall with a green NCS S 4040 B60G.

The decision was a bit painful because there was some doubt about the use of such a strong color, but after the realization the family was largely satisfied.
I am always of the opinion that, as he says Anna Starmer

if you instinctively love something, you will enjoy living with it for many years

Il grigio that appears in the wallpaper and also in the back wall of the kitchen was used instead to mark the niche at the entrance.
