Honor 80 & Honor 80 Pro – Top specs and a world first

  • Honor has had a big day full of premieres
  • In addition to the Magic Vs puzzle, we also got the Honor 80 series
  • It brings an elegant design and top specifications to the middle class

Honor 80 Pro is a real stylish phone

Numerical series Honor was created in 2021, when the 50 series was born, which was the first phones of the brand with Google services since the restrictions on maternity Huawei. Honor is now an independent company and later we saw the follow-up series Honor 60 and 70. So now the latest series has arrived with the number 80, which looks very interesting again.

Honor 80 comes on the scene

This specification comes with a slightly modified design of the original Honor 70, and on the back there is again a photo module consisting of a pair of rings. But they fit together, so they resemble the number 8 and thus refer to the designation of the series. It certainly doesn’t look bad, just like the curved OLED display and thin bezels both on the sides and on the top and bottom.

Honor 80 offers very interesting specifications

A new processor and a handful of megapixels

Honor 80 is proud of an interesting first – it is the first phone in the world to receive the new Snapdragon 782G processor. It is the successor to the original, proven 778G+ chipset, and compared to it, it will offer a decent increase in performance (5% for the CPU and 10% for the GPU) and slightly better efficiency. The operating memory can then have up to 12 GB of RAM and the internal storage will offer a maximum of 512 GB.

And the camera composed of sensors with a resolution of 160 + 8 + 2 Mpx definitely looks interesting. We are seeing a primary lens with this slightly unusual resolution for the first time in the mobile world and we are really curious to see how it will perform in real tests. The battery offers a capacity of 4,800 mAh and 66W fast charging can charge it to 50% (from 3%) in 15 minutes.

Price and availability

The new Honor 80 is currently going on sale in China and global availability is unfortunately unknown for now. In any case, Honor plans to send this new series to markets outside its homeland, so all that remains is to wait for it to officially clarify availability.

  • Honor 80; 12 + 256 GB – 2,999 yuan (9,890 crowns without VAT)

Honor 80 Pro

The top version of this series was named Pro and differs from the lower model in several ways. First of all, the photo module has a slightly different appearance, which is not circular, but oval, and the individual segments are framed so that the resulting ornament resembles the number 8. It looks good and will definitely not fit in the middle class Honor 80 Pro.

Honor 80 Pro Specifications:

  • Display: 6.78 inches, OLED, 120 Hz, 1.5K resolution
  • Procesor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
  • Memory: 8/12 GB RAM, 256/512 GB ROM
  • Camera: 160 + 50 + 2 Mpx
  • Selfie camera: 50 + 2 Mpx
  • Konektivita: 5G, USB-C, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC

Honor 80 Pro

The Pro variant impresses both with its camera and powerful processor

Flagship performance in the middle class

This model is mainly proud of the drive in the form of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship processor, which offers truly ultra-high performance. Although this is a version running at a lower clock rate, it will still have up to performance and in this respect the Honor 80 Pro will come close to flagship phones. Another change compared to the Honor 80 can be found in the area of the display and both cameras.

The display is slightly larger, has a higher, 1.5K resolution and has a dual selfie camera with a resolution of 50 + 2 Mpx. There is a camera on the back, which offers a resolution of 160 + 50 + 2 Mpx, and the manufacturer certainly did not skimp on this aspect either. The battery is again 4,800 mAh and the 66 W charging has not changed. The pleasantly thin (7.8 mm) and light (188 grams) chassis is definitely worth mentioning.

Price and availability

The same applies to the Pro specification as for the Honor 80. Sales are currently starting in China and later, but it is not known when, this novelty will also be available in global markets. The color range includes four shades, namely black, green, pink and blue.

  • Honor 80 Pro; 8 + 256 GB – 3,499 yuan (11,550 crowns without VAT)
  • Honor 80 Pro; 12 + 256 GB – 3,799 yuan (12,550 crowns without VAT)
  • Honor 80 Pro; 12 + 512 GB – 4,099 yuan (13,550 crowns without VAT)
