Honor has presented its new top models of the Honor 50 series. After the sale by Huawei, the smartphones can use Google services again.
In the past two years, Honor, as a subsidiary of Huawei, was also affected by the US sanctions against the parent company. Honor has been an independent brand since it was sold at the end of 2020 and is no longer subject to the US trade embargo. The new smartphones in the Honor 50 series are now also benefiting from this.
Honor presented the top models Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro in China on Wednesday. The new smartphones will also be released in Germany in the future and will then be equipped with Google services and the well-known apps again, as Honor confirms in a statement:
“HONOR has been able to work with a number of supplier partners in the early stages. Initially, HONOR devices will go through the Google Play Protect certified security and compatibility tests to ensure that they are able to use apps from Google and the Google Play Store. Consistent with Google’s licensing and governance models, HONOR devices will therefore have the ability to have Google Mobile Services (“GMS”) preinstalled on compatible devices, enabling consumers to use HONOR smartphones and -Tablets that are equipped with GMS to use.
HONOR strives to develop a global, iconic technology brand. We believe the collaboration between Google and HONOR will continue to advance the development of the Android ecosystem and continue to serve global consumers. “
Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro
The first flagships that Honor presented after separating from Huawei are Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro. Both smartphones have a striking design with two ring-shaped camera modules that house a total of four sensors: a 108 MP camera as well as an 8 MP wide angle, a 2 MP macro and a 2 MP depth sensor. A 32 MP selfie camera is used on the front. The Honor 50 Pro also offers a 12 MP wide-angle camera on the front. Special recording modes enable the front and rear cameras to be used at the same time.
The Honor 50 has a 6.57 inch display, the Honor 50 Pro measures 6.72 inches. Both have a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz. Both smartphones are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor, which supports 5G. The Honor 50 Pro’s 4,000 mAh battery can be charged with up to 100 W. The Honor 50 has a 4,300 mAh battery that supports fast charging with up to 66 W.
