Honda’s Total Sales Reach 15 Percent Better Than 2020

DAPURPACU – PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) recorded retail sales of 91,393 units throughout 2021. The number increased 15 percent compared to 2020 which only reached 79,451 units.

From the results recorded, Honda is in the fifth position of the car sales ladder on a national scale, as reported by Gaikindo reaching 91,122 units (whole sales).

The performance of the Brio Satya in particular, the launch of several new models, as well as the PPnBM DTP incentives are claimed by Honda to be quite effective in encouraging the growth of the domestic automotive market.

It was stated that Honda’s sales, especially in the second half of 2021, were greatly affected by the disruption in the supply of components for production that occurred globally.

Luckily, these conditions gradually began to improve at the end of 2021, so Honda is currently focusing on maximizing production capacity and meeting consumer demand which is still high.

As a result, sales in last December recorded an increase of 41 percent compared to the previous month with a total of 9,908 units.

“Honda’s sales in 2021 are in line with our projections,” said HPM’s Business Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director, Yusak Billy in his official broadcast, Friday (14/1).

Billy explained that the projection took into account various conditions such as the launch of a new model, the impact of tax incentives, as well as supply constraints due to disruptions in the supply of components for production.

“Especially for Brio whose orders are very high, we will maximize production in our two factories to meet consumer demand as soon as possible,” he added.

Throughout 2021, Honda Brio sales reached 45,332 units or contributed 50 percent, with details of 30,254 Brio Satya units and 15,078 Brio RS units.

Then the HR-V 1.5L contributed 18% of Honda’s total sales with 16,525 units, followed by the CR-V with 9,378 units (10%), and City Hatchback RS which sold 8,384 units (9%).

Other Honda models contributed 5,498 units of Mobilio, 2,764 units of BR-V, 1,160 units of HR-V 1.8 L, 997 units of Jazz, 649 units of Civic Hatchback RS and 163 units of Odyssey.

In the sedan lineup, the Honda Civic sold 276 units, followed by the Accord 187 units, the City 70 units, and the Honda Civic Type R which recorded sales of 10 units.
