DAPURPACU – Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition officially was asked to become a Safety Car at the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) throughout the 2020 racing season.

Taking place over six rounds in mainland Europe, the debut of the Civic Type R Limited Edition will begin in Salzburgring, Austria, 12-13 September.

“The Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition has been chosen as the official safety car for the FIA WTCR 2020. We have announced it from the Honda Motorsport headquarters in Milan, Italy,” Honda wrote, from its official website.

By maintaining a 2.0 liter VTEC Turbo engine with an output of 320 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm, this sedan can go up to speeds of 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds.

“Honda has a lot of history in the FIA World Touring Car competition and its long-term commitment in this category is second to none,” said François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events, promoter of the WTCR.

Like other safety cars, this Civic display comes with a special graphic wrapping all over the body. The Civic Type R Limited Edition comes in Sunlight Yellow, which is the standard color of this sedan for the European market.

Developed in accordance with the Type R tradition and track performance as its main focus, this car is also equipped with active safety technology that has been ranked top in the Euro NCAP test.

The design is inspired by the philosophy behind its production which is the work of Belgian artist Vanuf who has designed various Honda car designs.

Optimizing the performance of the car on the track is supported by 20-inch lightweight BBS wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup-2 tires, a modified damper, and 2 floating brake discs.

The limited edition strip-back interior of the car contributes to a reduction in weight to 47 kg compared to the Type R GT.

“Having an iconic car like the Civic Type R as an official Safety Car with a very good safety rating, sporty, dynamic quality, and affordability is very compatible with the WTCR philosophy,” concluded François.

After being launched in February at JAS Motorsport Milan, the Civic Type R Limited Edition is one of two new variants that will be added to the Type R lineup for 2020, as an extreme version of the iconic hatchback made to date.

The plan, Civic Type R Limited Edition will be provided as many as 4 units, and will appear on ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport and ALL-INKL.DE Münnich Motorsport. [dp/MTH]
