Own correspondent, Dhaka Times

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the government has extended the ongoing holidays of all educational institutions in the country except Qawmi Madrasa till February 28.

As per the earlier decision, all the educational institutions in the country except Qaumi were declared closed till February 14. In this phase the leave was extended for another 14 days.

The announcement came from the Ministry of Education on Sunday. Online learning activities will continue during the holidays.

All types of educational institutions in the country will be closed during the new holidays. However, Parliament will continue to run TV, radio and online classes. However, it is advisable to continue the study as per the specialized syllabus given for SSC and HSC candidates.

It has been decided to extend the leave to protect students from corona infection. However, classes and examinations will continue as usual at Qawmi Madrasa.

Educational institutions have been closed since March 18 after the first corona patient was identified in Bangladesh on March 8 last year. Since then, the holiday, which has been extended in stages, continues till February 14. However, it was expected that the leave of the educational institution would be extended as no instructions were issued yesterday. Today it was announced to extend the holiday for another 14 days.

Even though the educational institution is closed, education is going on in the school atmosphere at home. Parliament is teaching on TV and radio. The government has also made various efforts to fill the education gap of the students.

Among the Kovid-19 epidemics, final examinations of the fifth and eighth and annual examinations of primary and secondary levels could not be taken last year.

The results of HSC and equivalent examinations are announced on the basis of final results of eighth and SSC and equivalent results.
