The City Council of Martorell, through the Center for Economic Promotion, has hired a young person enrolled in the European Youth Guarantee program thanks to the grant ‘Young people in internships’ awarded by the Public Employment Service of Catalonia. The program offers training and employment opportunities to people between the ages of 16 and 29 who do not study or work so that they can improve their employability.
The young person selected will work as an administration technician in the premises of the Local Police of the City of Martorell, for a period of six months and 100% of the working day, from December 30, 2020 to 29 June 2021.
In order to fill this position, young people have been selected with the most appropriate profiles to meet the requirements set by the call: be registered in Spanish territory, be between 16 and 29 years old, be a beneficiary of the Youth Guarantee program in Catalonia, be registered as an applicant for unoccupied employment (DONO) in the Public Employment Service of Catalonia and be in possession of a university degree or vocational training of medium or higher degree or another degree officially recognized as equivalent, or a certificate of professionalism, details the technique of Economic Promotion, Carme Moles.

This subsidy establishes the collaboration with the City Council so that young people are hired and provide their services, under the contractual modality of paid internships. The aim is that they can achieve professional skills and experience, facilitating the practical exercise of the knowledge acquired, both in regulated training and in job training, and the skills derived from work practice.
This is the fifth edition of this program that takes place in the City of Martorell. During the 2016 edition, a total of 10 young beneficiaries had an internship contract at Martorell City Council, in the 2017 edition five young people benefited and in the 2018 edition five more young people. In this latest edition, the grant was applied for for five young people and finally the grant was awarded for one.
The internship program wants young people to develop a first experience in the world of work in order to enter the market and acquire a job in a company in the area, avoiding going abroad due to the lack of opportunities. To this end, the Center for Economic Promotion of the City of Martorell has managed the recruitment of the selected young person after applying for a grant from the Public Employment Service of Catalonia, with co-financing from the European Social Fund and the Initiative of Youth Employment.
