The agreement, announced today by the two unions, also envisions higher salaries for employees in certain medical and health care professions who are exposed to greater danger at work, as well as a non-taxable bonus of 650 euros for trainees and interns, reports the AP agency.

The agreement reached between the Ver.di and DBB unions and most of the 16 German states followed a series of strikes, especially in the health sector, and will be valid for two years.

The agreement applies to state hospitals, schools, police, fire services and public administration employees in all states except Hessen, where a similar agreement was reached last month, the information added.
