High Unemployment, Indonesian Young People Prefer To Be Entrepreneurs Than Private Workers

Suara.com – The unemployment rate in Indonesia is still high, so that many young people prefer to become self-employed or open their own business rather than having to become private employees.

This is in line with data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which states that the Indonesian unemployment rate until February 2023 reached 7.99 million people or in percentage terms was recorded at 5.45 percent of the total population of Indonesia.

“From several survey results, it is stated that the younger generation tends to choose to become entrepreneurs rather than private employees,” said Managing Director of Hallmar Business School, Michael Adiwijaya, quoted on Thursday (1/6/2023).

But the problem, he said, is that it is not easy to become an entrepreneur, you need skills and a mature business and investment strategy so that the business you do runs smoothly.

“As an entrepreneur, especially for beginners, to be able to develop a business successfully, of course there needs to be support and assistance from experienced professionals,” he said.

One that novice entrepreneurs can take is to take part in business training which is a profitable way, because this will have an impact on business and become a long-term investment and to be able to survive in the business world.

“A successful business requires a strong foundation and is run by someone who is professional in business matters,” he said.

In addition, some of the benefits that can be obtained from attending business training are skills that are increasingly honed, become more innovative and creative, improve team performance, help see and explore business and many more.

Michael said that at Hallmar Business School, for example, there is a Hallmar Ventures program, namely the Acceleration Program, which opens opportunities for entrepreneurs to receive business funding.
