New hotel concept in test
The first Heymo 1 hotel in the new Heymo concept of the Finnish Sokos Hotels hotel chain was opened in Keilaniemi, Espoo, on April 20, 2022. The basic idea of the concept is flexible service hotel that offers the customer flexibility and low prices, and the customer does not pay for services that he does not use.
The Heilan in Keilaniemi has 262 rooms, and the basic product is a simple 18-square-meter room that can accommodate two people, and the room rate is considered moderate by providing only basic services. If you want something extra for your stay, such as a bathrobe, breakfast or pampering products, they are available at an additional cost.
In addition to the double rooms, there is a Heymo room on each floor, which can be joined by two or three rooms and can accommodate up to seven people. All rooms have a private bathroom, and the Heymo room also includes a microwave and refrigerator.
The decoration of the rooms is simple, and especially the guests ’dream experience has been invested. Good sleep is guaranteed with the brand new Familon beds and the peaceful world of colors.

The hotel has eight accessible rooms, in addition to which all rooms on the second floor are pet rooms. In response to the lack of traditional Suites and Superior Room Classes, Heymo 1 has an Lucky You Room on the eighth floor. The hotel’s most special room cannot be booked, but it is still available every night, as it is drawn daily for one of the hotel’s guests.
The special room differs from the other rooms in terms of interior design and services, as it is decorated with Vallila’s Ellinoora patterns and features a bed surrounded by a cloud curtain, a mini spa, a coffee machine and a free minibar.
Stripped basic services enable accountability
Like other Sokos hotels, Heymo 1 also applies for a Green Key certificate for responsibility. Responsibility is the hotel’s lead fixer Jarmo Ritalan according to the built-in core business of Heymo hotels: the product is the most responsible that does not need to be manufactured. Therefore, there is nothing extra in the rooms.
Responsibility is also reflected in breakfast. It is not included in the price and the hotel does not serve a traditional buffet breakfast. Instead, guests can buy an all-day breakfast for € 8.5, which can be enjoyed in portions and throughout the day, according to their own needs.
The flexibility of the flexible service concept is especially evident when checking in to the rooms, as the rooms are made available to customers as soon as they are cleaned and ready. The aim here is not only to avoid the traditional congestion during check-in times, but also to be flexible according to the customer’s schedules.
Check-in and check-out are fully automatic, but this does not mean that the Heymo Hotel is unstaffed. Instead of the traditional staff, the hotel has fixers who can help with knowledge of the destination of the metropolitan area as well as the construction of a travel program, as well as check-in machines if required.
This is what Sokos Hotels’ first Heymo concept hotel looks like!
