Despite the vaccination that is following its path in France and Europe, the Covid contamination rises sharply in recent days. The fault, in particular, with the famous variant Delta, but also to many people who will not be vaccinated. During its speech of Monday July 12, Emmanuel Macron announced a series of measures to encourage the population to be vaccinated en masse. Among these measures, we find in particular the extension of the health pass to many new areas. So what’s going to change for your transportation this summer? We take stock.
Health pass, what is it?
Contrary to what many people think, the health pass is not not necessarily linked to vaccination, and is not systematically presented in the form of theapplication TousAntiCovid. In fact, the health pass is, in short, everything that allows you to prove that you are not not carriers of the virus as you present it. Recent negative results from PCR or antigen tests or a certificate of recovery from Covid therefore count as much as one vaccination certificate, and you can very well present these documents in the form of papers. Attention, small precision: the vaccination is considered valid only two weeks after administration of the second dose for two-dose vaccines (Moderna, Pfizer).
Health pass: what will change this summer?
As has been said, Emmanuel Macron wants to put pressure on those who refuse to be vaccinated. Until then limited to large gatherings, the health pass will therefore be extended in several stages to other areas. The July 21 next, it will be requested when accessing places of culture welcoming more than 50 people (cinema, museums, theaters, etc.). Then, early August, restaurants, bars and cafes, but also nursing homes, hospitals, shopping centers, sports halls and long-distance transport will only be accessible on presentation of the health pass.
In detail, the extension of the health pass to long distance transport should not transform your life as a motorist but could impact your departures on vacation. This concerns “long-distance” trains and buses (the rule remains to be defined, but the government is currently talking about those leaving your region of departure), and flights.
There is therefore no question of being asked for a health pass in the local public transport like the bus or the metro. It will not be requested either during a carpooling, even long distance, because difficult to set up. Finally, the car rental companies will not be able to demand it either. But given the extension area of this pass, it seems wise to check that it is up to date before go on vacation, whatever your mode of transport.
