He broke into the house wearing a police vest and stole

The theft took place in Uttar Naribari area of Ward No. 1 of Gurudaspur Municipal Headquarters. On Friday (March 5), a burglar broke into the house in broad daylight.

It is learned that a burglar broke into the house of Bikash and stationery trader Abdul Mannan of Uttar Naribari Mahalla and took away goods worth more than half a lakh rupees including a mobile phone, clothes and money in the house.

Abdul Mannan, the owner of the house, said that on March 3, Jogendra Nagar of the upazila along with his family members went to his father-in-law’s house. When he came home after two days, he saw that everything was fine, but when he opened the door of the house, he saw that the floor was leaking on the back wall and the things were in a random way.

Abdul Mannan’s wife, Morzina Khatun, said the burglars fled with a vest, a pair of shoes and a sledgehammer used by the people around the house.

Abdul Alim, a former councilor of Ward No. 1, confirmed the incident, saying the thief was no longer seen. Drug addicts may have caused this because they did not own a home.

Gurudaspur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdur Razzak said he had not received any complaint in this regard. If a complaint is received, the matter will be looked into.
