A 45-year-old skier unbalanced by a snowfall was killed on Saturday by falling from a rocky bar, at the level of the Barmerousse valley, in the territory of Passy (Haute-Savoie), reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.
The accident occurred around 12:40 p.m. when the 40-year-old fell from a height of 50 meters from the top of the rocky ridge, said the Chamonix high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM).
When he arrived there, the doctor could only note his death.
According to the PGHM, this accidental fall was caused by a flow of snow of natural origin, a few centimeters thick and about 3 meters wide, which arrived directly in the skis of the victim. This thin layer was enough to unbalance it and drag it towards the nearby void.
