Combines are already appearing on country roads, preparing for harvest. What dozens of machines harvested twenty-five years ago, only a few modern harvesters can now do. The development of agricultural technology in the country is also mapped by the attached photo gallery, its current condition and parameters are then presented in the video.
Bohumil Izera, who has been involved in agricultural machinery for more than twenty years and now works as a plant production technician at the Peruc Agricultural Cooperative, has evaluated the development of harvesting machines over the past quarter century. However, not only “his” cooperative went through the waves of modernization, they reflect the general technological development of agricultural technology.
“From my youth, I still remember the red Soviet predecessors of the East German Combine Harsch E 512. Dad rode them, so I rode with him several times and it was an adventurous experience for the boy,” Izera recalls.
It was a combine harvester SK 6 Kolos, of which in the eighties each larger team had about fifteen. Even before the colossus era, SK 4 harvesters were used for harvesting.
“It simply came to our notice then. The harvesters did not have a cabin, only an uncomfortable seat at the top of the bar, and the harvesters at the time spent the whole day in the heat and clouds of dust. It was often very risky. Against the SK 4, the Colossus was already a large machine equipped with a cabin and a powerful engine, ”recalls the technician.
At the turn of the millennium, he started fundamental changes in agricultural technology. They also manifested themselves in the Peruvian team.
“In 2001, the cooperative bought the first machine from the new era of combine harvesters. It was a Massey Ferguson 7278 CEREA. Compared to Fortschritt harvesters, the machine was much more powerful, air-conditioned and easier for the driver to operate.
Over the next few years, the cooperatives began to purchase additional combine harvesters, mainly from the manufacturer Claas, first Claas Lexion 460, then Claas Lexion 550 and the last Claas Lexion 670. The next wave of modernization occurred specifically in Peruc in 2004.
“We bought a new Massey Ferguson 9280 DELTA, which replaced the obsolete CEREU. So the last few years in our cooperative, cereals have been harvested by four combine harvesters, ”Izera balances.
In recent days, farmers have begun harvesting winter wheat and barley. So far, only tens of hectares have been harvested, in some parts the harvest has not yet begun, but the machines should go to the fields in larger numbers next week, when the weather is supposed to be good.
