Handy listing: Google is testing advanced tiles in search results

Some users see a different view in the search results, for example when searching for places and songs. This provides more information in less time – and fewer clicks.

If you search for keywords on Google that aim for several answers (e.g. “neighborhoods in Hamburg” or “movies with Brad Pitt”), you will usually see a horizontal listing in the form of tiles in the search results. Apart from a picture and the name of the respective result, however, these do not offer users too much information – but that could change soon. As marketing expert Adam Riemer shares on Twitter, the company is testing a much more comprehensive list of results, which includes snippets from multiple websites.

Riemer emphasizes that the introduction of the function would be rather unpleasant for publishers. Because the featured snippets displayed here in large numbers (which should now become even more accurate and trustworthy thanks to the KI MUM) often already offer the searcher all the information they need. A click on the website is thus superfluous – additional functions such as “Also covered on this page” help and can ensure more traffic. Other features such as things to know and buying guide, on the other hand, ensure even more no-click searches.

Detailed listing provides a better overview

The advanced search results offer users a comprehensive overview of important aspects of the content they are looking for at a glance. Anyone looking for detailed information on various items (e.g. “Best Elvis Songs”) will find what they are looking for more quickly thanks to the new update.
