Prague – Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Foreign Minister Jan Hamáček (CSSD) summoned Russian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Alexander Zmeevsky this afternoon. He wants to protest against Russia’s action after the Czechia expelled 18 employees of the Russian embassy due to the possible involvement of Russian agents in the explosion of ammunition depots in Vrbětice in 2014, who were connected to Russian secret services according to Czech authorities.

In retaliation, Russia expelled 20 employees of the Czech embassy in Moscow, which, according to Hamáček, paralyzed its operation. At the same time, the deputy prime minister said on Tuesday that Zmejevsky would be the first to be acquainted today with a possible further Czech reaction.
