[아시아경제 영남취재본부 박새얀 기자] On the 21st, the Gyeongnam Provincial Council’s special committee for joint bid for COP28 Namhaean and South Central areas visited the Yeosu World Expo.

They toured the facilities necessary to host COP28, and discussed topics such as strengthening joint promotion activities to attract COP28 from the southern coast and southern central areas and discovering policies for the win-win development of Gyeongnam and Jeollanam-do.

This visit was made by requesting a visit to Yeosu in order to inspect facilities related to COP28, including the Yeosu Expo Convention Center, and to discuss specific implementation plans.

Seong Yeon-seok, chairman of the special committee, said, “The joint bid for COP28 in the South Coast and South Central region will serve as a symbolic model for East-West harmony and balanced national development.

On the other hand, the special committee was formed on April 22 to jointly host COP28 in the South Coast and South China regions, and is working with the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly to adopt a joint proposal urging the designation of the venues in the South Coast and South Central regions.
