[아시아경제 호남취재본부 윤자민 기자] On the afternoon of the 11th, Gwangju Metropolitan City held an emergency situation check and countermeasures meeting for the recently controversial ‘urea water shortage’ presided over by Mayor Lee Yong-seop.

The meeting was attended by 8 related organizations, including the National Police Agency and the Yeongsan River Basin Environment Agency, along with 7 related departments including the Gwangju Transportation Construction Bureau and the Environment and Ecology Bureau. We discussed difficulties and future measures.

As a result of the meeting, there is no problem in the supply and demand of urea water by the end of the year, and the city bus is scheduled to operate normally for the time being, and it is decided to suggest to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to add urea water as a priority supply target in preparation for a prolonged period.

Recently, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security decided to supply 2,000 liters of emergency supplies to bus companies in each city and province as soon as possible to solve the shortage.

In the firefighting and ambulance fields, six months’ worth of supplies are stockpiled by the end of April next year, so vehicles are expected to operate normally.

In the case of snow removal vehicles, the remaining amount of urea water is sufficient, so there is no problem until the first half of next year.

In order to solve the difficulties in supply and demand caused by the shortage of urea water in the private sector, the city and the association will periodically inspect and manage them, while actively cooperating with the government to implement necessary measures, such as an emergency supply request.

Construction equipment that requires urea water will be provided with priority supply when necessary while maintaining an organic response system with construction material companies that have stockpiled urea water in consultation with the relevant association.

As for urea fertilizer in the agricultural sector, there is no inventory in sales places such as the Agricultural Cooperatives, and if the shortage situation is prolonged, it is understood that there will be a setback in next year’s rice planting season. I decided to rent it out first.

In particular, in the case of ambulances owned by public health centers and medical institutions, the number of urea is only available until the end of this year, so difficulties are expected from next year.

In addition, as the government is actively responding to diesel vehicles owned by ordinary citizens nationwide, our city plans to respond closely to the government’s support.

The Yeongsan River Basin Environment Agency is currently checking the sales links in the order of distributors and gas stations, and there is a shortage in consumer sales. am.

Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “We will work closely with the government to solve the urea water shortage situation early, and quickly come up with a response plan for areas that can be solved in the region. We will actively strive to minimize inconvenience to citizens by establishing a regular cooperation system and preparing countermeasures until the shortage of urea is stabilized.”
