“In connection with the increase in the number of COVID-19 infections, the government, concerned about the health of Guinean athletes, regretfully decided to cancel Guinea’s participation in the Tokyo Games,” TASS quotes AFP as saying the Minister of Sports of Guinea Sanussi Sow.
The Summer Olympic Games, postponed from 2020 to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be held from July 23 to August 8.
