Hertz and Shelby American have teamed up to tune Ford’s Mustang for racing rental. The result is a car with more than 900hp called the GT500-H.
Enormous power is extracted from the standard 5.2-liter supercharged engine from the GT500. Shelby has added its monoblock alloy wheels, tinted windows and carbon bonnet, all together reducing the car’s weight by about 13.5kg.
It is planned to produce 25 copies, and 19 of them will be in black with gold stripes. The other 6 will be painted in Oxford white, in honor of Shelby American and its 60th anniversary.
Hertz will offer the Mustang GT-H in coupe and convertible form. This variant has Borlin’s exhaust system for a five-liter V8 engine, 20-inch wheels and all-season Michelin tires. Shelby has redesigned the hood, top of the grille, hips and panel with rear light clusters. The GT500-H will only be available as a coupe.
Hertz and Shelby previously collaborated on the 2016 Mustang conversion. Hertz will soon expand its catalog with tuned electric models, and the first lists are Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2.
