Government of the Azores next week visits proposed land in Lajes do Pico for a health center – Cm ao Minuto

The Government of the Azores will start on Monday a statutory visit to Pico, which includes a trip to the land proposed by the municipality of Lajes for the construction of the health centre, it was announced this Friday.

For the first of three days of visit, meetings are scheduled with the municipal executives of Madalena and São Roque and a visit to the redevelopment works of the Cais do Pico bay, according to the program sent to the Lusa agency.

Also on Monday, there will be a meeting between the Azorean executive and the Island Council and the presentation of the project for the recovery of the agricultural paths of Pico.

For Tuesday afternoon, the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) has scheduled a meeting with the president and councilors of the Lajes Chamber, followed by a visit to the land proposed by the municipality for the construction of a new health Center.

On 30 June, authorization was announced for the second public procurement procedure for the remodeling of the Lajes do Pico Health Center, in the Azores, after the first had been left deserted.

Earlier, in April, the Government of the Azores had launched the public tender for the remodeling of the Lajes Health Center, budgeted at 1.55 million euros and with an execution period of 480 days.

In August, after the municipality made land available, in statements to Antena 1, the Regional Secretary for Health said that the executive would “consider” building a health center from scratch in the municipality, admitting canceling the tender for the requalification of the current building.

Also according to the program of the visit, also on Tuesday, members of the Regional Government will visit the Madalena Basic and Secondary School, the works of the Conseran canning factory, in addition to participating in the inauguration of a house for residential tourism.

The Azorean executive will also sign a protocol with Santa Casa da Misericórdia das Lajes.

On the same day, there will also be a session of the Autonomic Forum, a set of conferences promoted by the Regional Government during statutory visits, with former PSD member Carlos Coelho being the guest of the session, scheduled for the Whaling Museum.

For the last day of the visit, Wednesday, a meeting of the Government Council is scheduled, in addition to the presentation of the project for the construction of the Madalena ring road and the signing of the contract for the sale of Naval Canal, to be signed between Portos dos Açores and that shipyard.

Today, the Pico Island Council warned that there is still no solution for the Lajes Health Center, advocating the construction of new equipment with “dignity” to serve the population of that Azorean municipality.

According to the Statute of the Azores, the Regional Government must visit each of the islands of the archipelago at least once a year, with the obligation of meeting the Government Council on the visited island.
