“Today we approved the 2030 National Health Plan, with five objectives, after a very participatory public debate: Reducing health inequalities; promoting the development of healthy behaviours, cultures and communities; minimizing the consequences of climate change and other environmental determinants of health; reducing the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases; and keeping health problems currently under control”, said Manuel Pizarro.
In a press conference after the Council of Ministers meeting, Manuel Pizarro also stressed that the document approved today identifies “15 strategic objectives”, including the promotion of equity and health literacy, the promotion of peace, justice and prosperity, the dynamization of partnerships in all sectors and health-promoting environments.
Manuel Pizarro also listed among his objectives the concern with active and healthy ageing, environmental care and the respective monitoring of associated risks, control of health problems transmitted by water, strengthening the sustainability of health care and ensuring the preparation of a response to public health emergencies.
Regarding this plan, the official also stressed that the Executive expects to see reinforced access to health care – with a focus on quality sexual, reproductive, maternal and child health – and the maintenance of the high levels of vaccination coverage registered in Portugal .
