Yesterday, the hospital in Moscow announced that he had died at the age of 92 Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union. He resigned from his position on December 25, 1991, after unsuccessfully trying to reform the country through perestroika and glasnost. The Soviet Union collapsed after 69 years, the Cold War ended, and he became the president of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin.

Some believe that the Cold War did not end with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the collapse of the West in 1991, but only in 1998, when Gorbachev appeared in a commercial for the American Pizza Hut franchise. The commercial was shot a year earlier in Red Square and Pizza Hut restaurants in Moscow. It was broadcast internationally for the first time in January 1998, but not in Russia.

In 2007, the popular Gorbachev appeared in an advertisement for the fashion giant Louis Vuitton. A print ad shows him driving in a car next to the Berlin Wall, with a Vuitton bag “parked” next to it. The photo was taken by a renowned American photographer Annie┬áLeibovitz.
