Rafael Grassetti is a very famous name in the world of artists and graphic designers. His career began nearly twenty years ago working on models for PixPost studio films and continued at Hasbro, where he designed the likeness of superhero figures. He started dabbling in games in 2008, and during his years as a freelancer he participated in the creative side of, for example, Risen 2, Space Marine, The Witcher 2, Assassin’s Creed III or The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.
In 2011, he signed full-time with BioWare, creating concepts and designing characters for Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age: Inquisition. A year later, he landed at PlayStation, working on Infamous: Second Son and The Order: 1886. He then spent the next nine years with Sony Santa Monica, working as a lead artist on God of War and then as art director on God of War Ragnarök.
In short, he has a portfolio that the vast majority of artists could only envy, and when he left Santa Monica last month, he very likely didn’t really suffer from a lack of offers for further work. At first glance, it is therefore perhaps a little surprising where he ended up heading – to Netflix Games, the game division of the popular streaming service.
I’m happy to announce that I’ve joined Netflix to develop a new original IP AAA game. I’m really excited to build a team and to work with the amazing Joseph Staten, Jerry Edsall and Chacko Sonny to bring a new world to life ❤️ pic.twitter.com/RQVDr0b1zs

There he will meet, among others, Joseph Staten, the creative head of the development of Halo Infinite, who left Microsoft in April, the former executive producer of Overwatch, Chack Sonny, and the former technical director of the Coalition studio, Jerry Edsall. Together with the rest of the team, they will be working on a “AAA multi-platform” title.
Netflix is tight-lipped and we don’t know much else about the upcoming game yet. However, the mention of platforms at least suggests that the company is about to leave the mobile consoles and wants to sail into the waters of “big” games. Considering the circumstances, building on the foundations of an established series, for example Stranger Things, would also be offered. Grassetti, on the other hand, both in his tweet and in profile says on LinkedIn that he is working on a new original brand. For now, we can only speculate and wait for the official announcement.
