Gobi educators suffering in office orders

Suparna Rahman, GABI Correspondent :: It has been alleged that teachers have been ordered to take office in the Public University of Savar (GABI) in violation of government instructions. They have suffered due to such decision of the administration.

Talking to the university administration on Thursday (May 8), the allegations were found to be true. According to the complaint, he has been instructed to come to the office for three days next week.

Several university teachers, who did not want to be named, said, “We are taking regular online classes at home.” Eid is a few days left. Among these are weekly holidays and Shabe Kadar holidays. It is difficult to hold office for only three days in the midst of Corona’s ban.

Currently, lockdown has been going on in several phases across the country since April 5 due to the increase in corona infection.
Following the official instructions, the GOBI authorities initially instructed the teachers to conduct online classes from home. Classes are running accordingly.

Lastly, the government issued a notification yesterday extending the lockdown period till May 16. It said all government and non-government offices, except for emergency services, would remain closed as usual. There are many questions as to why teachers should come to the campus even after this official instruction.

In this regard, the Vice Chancellor (Current Responsibility) of the University, Prof. Dr. Laila Parveen Banu said, ‘We know what the government or UGC is saying. The university has some work before Eid. We have some work to do in the administration. Taking exams of students, admitting new students. The government has not stopped admission. We have construction work.

If you want to know if the UGC has any instructions for teachers to come to the campus for emergency work, said the director of the private university branch. Omar Farooq said, ‘No, the instructions given by the government will remain in force. We have no instructions outside of this.

Meanwhile, many teachers have already moved to their village homes, announcing the extension of the lockdown period in several phases and assuming that they will no longer have to work in the center for the upcoming Eid. But in the announcement of the administration, they said that they are suffering due to transportation restrictions and returning to Dhaka.
