Every year at the end of the season (in June), the Liepāja Theater hosts an audience vote to find out the productions, as well as the actors in the foreground and background roles, which the audience considers to be the best and favorite. This year, due to the limited activity of the theater, the vote did not take place in June, but in order not to lose the tradition that has been cherished for many years and is so dear to the theater, the vote was announced shortly before Christmas. Unable to announce the results in the presence of the audience, they were announced to the actors by the theater director Herbert Laukšteins.
Although Gints Grāvelis is an actor at the Daile Theater, the audience in his performance of Edgar’s role Swamp wader in the fire rated as the best. Inese Kučinska has received the award for several key roles in performances Cherry Orchard, Complete Strangers, Excitement a Shakespeare, for which also received Gamblers Night Actress of the Year Award. Edgars Ozoliņš and Karīna Tatarinova (both for their roles in several performances) have been recognized by the audience as the best actors in the background roles.
For the most successful show, the audience convincingly chose the musical staged by director Regnārs Vaivars Swamp wader in the fire. The second place in the audience vote was won by the production of director Elmars Senkovs Shakespeare, but the third was divided by an equal number of votes Cherry orchard Directed by Dita Lūriņa and A century of indifference Directed by Dmitry Petrenko.
The vote included nine performances from June 2019 to the present – all productions that were to take place during the 113th season of the theater, and some premieres were postponed to the beginning of this 114th season.
