Gigabyte introduces the Mini PC Brix with AMD Ryzen 5000U

The mini PC market belonged mainly to Intel with NUC models. However, the latest generation of Ryzens from AMD gave manufacturers a good reason to create a variant with chips from the red team stable. Gigabyte is now updating its Brix Mini-PC line with new models with Ryzen 5000U series processors.

Brix Mini belongs to the category of mini PCs with its small dimensions. Specifically, it has 44 × 134 × 139 mm. Even in this miniature body, it offers up to 2,048 TFLOPS of computing power. Especially thanks to the combination of the Ryzen 5000U series and the integrated Vega graphics chip. The processor with Zen 3 architecture is manufactured using 7 nm production technology. Gigabyte promises a 14% increase in multi-core computing power and a 16% increase in single-core performance compared to the previous generation. At the same time, the guts from AMD should be 1.23 times faster in 3DMark compared to the 11th generation of Intel chips, or 1.8 times more powerful in the Cinebench R20 benchmark. The total power should reach up to 2,048 TFLOPS.

Inside, we also find DDR4 memories with a frequency of up to 3200 MHz, 2.5 Gb Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6E. The Brix will be available in a slimmer and larger version that will offer an additional 2.5-inch SSD slot.

The device manufacturer offers two expansion packs. The first adds a second LAN port and an RS232 connector. The second package will supply a pair of M.2 2280 ports, increasing the possibility of memory up to three SSDs. As usual, this mini PC does not lack a VESA bracket for mounting on the rear of the monitor, for example.

Thanks to a pair of HDMI, one USB-C with Display Port support and another mini Display Port, up to four 4K monitors can be connected simultaneously. According to Gigabyt, the integrated Vega graphics should be able to handle everything thanks to a 24% increase in performance compared to the previous generation.

The new Brix will also be the quietest of all the models listed so far. This can be due to the new cooling in combination with the debugged firmware. Availability is planned for the third quarter of this year. We do not yet know the prices or exact specifications.
