Passengers using the services of the airline Jetstar will have to get to the airport earlier in the future, as the carrier has announced a series of changes that it hopes will increase the punctuality and reliability of flights.

Check-in, baggage drop-off and boarding gate closing times will be changed from May 23.

The new changes were first announced to users of this company on Tuesday morning, via e-mail and text messages.

Domestic passengers

Check-in and baggage claim will close 40 minutes before take-off, which is ten minutes earlier than before.

Boarding gates will close 20 minutes before take-off, which is 15 minutes earlier than before.

International travelers

Check-in and baggage claim will close at least 60 minutes before international flights.

Boarding gates for international flights will close 20 minutes before, as for domestic flights.

Reasons for changes

– We know that our performance was not up to par, and we are working hard to increase accuracy and reliability – said Matt Frenzy, Chief Operating Officer of Jetstar.

According to him, these changes were made in order to harmonize with other budget airlines around the world.

– In order to improve our performance, we are also recruiting more airport and cabin staff, as well as engineering team members. We are also making changes to our check-in, baggage drop and boarding times to bring them in line with other low-cost carriers around the world – Frenzy explained.

Bonza: check-in and baggage drop-off close 40 minutes before departure.

Izijet: online check-in closes two hours before departure, and bag drop-off 40 or 60 minutes before departure.

Reiner: check-in closes 40 minutes before departure, and boarding 20 minutes before departure.

Skut: check-in and baggage drop-off closes 60 minutes before departure.
