German Siltronic builds new silicon wafer factory in Singapore

Germany’s Siltronic, the only European manufacturer of silicon electronic substrates, kicked off the construction of a new 300mm wafer factory on Tuesday, October 26, at its Tampines Wafer Fab Park industrial site in Singapore. , in the presence of several Singaporean officials. The investment amounts to around 2 billion euros and lasts until the end of 2024.

This is the largest investment in the history of the company. It is funded by a joint venture with Samsung Electronics, the world’s leading manufacturer of memory chips, in partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). “We are supporting the expansion plans of our valued customers by adding a new 300mm plant in Singapore. With the decision to invest in this profitable facility, we are paving the way for Siltronic’s prosperous future ”, said company CEO Christoph von Plotho at the inauguration.
