At first glance, the i10 generation shift is barely recognizable, the Hyundai mini has become flatter, wider and longer, but all the features of its predecessor have been copied by the designers. The two-color paintwork reveals it, but there is a surcharge (HUF 135,000 for metallic light, plus HUF 135,000 for a black roof). By the way, this is a type of low-cost entry, for which a lot of extras can be ordered, for example, the rear disc brake is only available at the top Comfort equipment. Interestingly, old-fashioned equipment (rear electric window HUF 50,000, 15-inch alloy wheels HUF 125,000) is relatively expensive, but extras important to young people are cheap (cordless phone charging HUF 35,000, 8-inch touchscreen head unit HUF 150,000).
Outside and inside the car’s C-pillar, the characteristic decoration on the door trims only comes to the dashboard at an additional cost (color package, HUF 50,000). The most expensive optional equipment is hardware navigation for HUF 495,000 + HUF 25,000 – the latter covers the mandatory rear speakers. It is worth paying for the middle equipment on the test car (Comfort, HUF 350,000), as the air conditioning in the Life Plus package (HUF 300,000) is slightly cheaper than the basic Life standard, and we also get electric front windows, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and a radio.
It is not worth saving on the 1.2-liter engine either, for which you have to pay 200 thousand HUF in addition to the 1.0-liter basic engine. With its 84 horsepower, it already keeps the speed of 130 km / h on the highway – it understands the bigger inclines – and even then it remains quiet, its consumption is acceptable. Driveability is best described by the easy word, ie the steering wheel, gear lever and clutch pedal can be moved with little force. Being a light car, the suspension is a bit tight, as there is no damping mass, but it barely tilts in the high-build body curve. By the way, tall construction, thanks to the fact that the 3.7-meter body can comfortably accommodate four average-sized adults, it is true, the shape of the boot is not the luckiest, narrow and tall, the big shopping has to be “towered”, and after arrival don’t spill stuff.
I LIKED IT
• spacious interior compared to the outside
• quiet engine
• reasonable price
I DID NOT LIKE
• Lots of extra extra
• narrow and high luggage compartment
Not the cheapest urban mini is the Hyundai i10, you can even find soft hybrid models for that much, but with its balanced performance, generous warranty and easy handling, it’s a good deal.
