Gazprom completely stops gas transit through Nord Stream

The Russian group Gazprom announced on Friday the complete stoppage of gas transit through the Nord Stream gas pipeline due to oil leaks detected during maintenance work at the only compressor station still in operation, reports the EFE agency.

“Until the malfunction of the equipment is eliminated, gas transit through the Nord Stream gas pipeline remains completely suspended,” Gazprom announced on its Telegram account.

The announcement was made a day before the date when the Russian group was due to resume supply to Europe via the gas pipeline – which was already operating at only 20% of capacity – after the completion of three days of maintenance work on a compressor station turbine.
