Every generation has a different motorcycle summer. Also because technology develops, what is driven changes. As if the current ones are faster, but this time – about old vehicles, retro vehicles, which are always in fashion and drive in the first rows in all parades. Sneezing, coughing, growling furiously, sputtering and cooing gently. At Alfred Zamock’s sports motorcycle exhibition in Pastende, iron rumakis are waiting to be taken down the roads. But the story is not only about irons and the history of motorsport, but rather about life and values. With a large dose of humor and with a mighty laugh.
Duties and likes
In the middle of May, Alfred hasn’t ridden his motorcycle once. “Cold, the pegs are freezing,” he immediately mentions one of the reasons. And he adds that there is no point in hurrying. “We’ll catch up.” He has plenty of other things to do, not to mention pawning motorcycles. “I don’t really like earthworks,” he grumbles when his wife reminds him about digging and planting holes. But – what must be done, must be done. “Duty and liking are two different things that have to be balanced,” he states.
We have come to Alfred to talk more about liking, about motor sports, because it is the interest of youth, even childhood, that is the basis of the exhibition in Pastende, where excursionists and interested parties come to the yard to study, see old vehicles and listen to Alfred’s stories not only about the athlete’s progress, collections formation, but about the turns of the era, adventures in times of change.
